in Indiana County Parks & Trails

Blue Spruce ParkCross-country skiing is a great way to stay fit and enjoy the beauty of winter. Our parks offer exceptional opportunities for skiing. Beginners will enjoy many level, wide-open areas, while experienced skiers will find many challenges on our backwoods trails. All trails in our park system are open to cross-country skiing. However, we do not groom any of these trails.

Where to ski

Blue Spruce Park: Blue Spruce features over five miles of trails. The Getty Run Trail is level, wide, and scenic, offering the ideal setting to practice skiing skills. Both sides of the lake are open and gently sloping, creating additional opportunities for beginning skiers. For more challenging skiing experiences, try the Vista Ridge, PCC, and Aspen trails. Blacklick Valley Natural Area (BVNA): The Parker Tract of the BVNA features five miles of trails. The Wetlands, Blacklick, Candlestick, and Parker Lane trails are located in the level bottomlands adjacent to Blacklick Valley Natural AreaBlacklick Creek. The Collier Trail is recommended only for experienced skiers. The Parker Tract is the ideal location to enjoy a quiet, secluded skiing experience in an area that abounds with wildlife. Ghost Town Trail (36 miles) and Hoodlebug Trail (10 miles): These trails, constructed on abandoned railroad corridors, are wide and level. Both trails are suitable for beginning or experienced skiers. Maps of our county trails can be found on our Park and Trail Maps page..

Pine Ridge Park: Pine Ridge features four miles of trails. The Tom's Run Trail is suitable for intermediate skiers, while the Lodge Trail offers a challenging loop for experienced skiers. The mature stands of hardwoods and the beauty of Tom's Run create a scenic location for skiing. A Pine Ridge Park trail map is available here in PDF format.
